Press Release:

"Waterline is an exhibition by Matthew Rimmer, Florence Eckersly, Yi Yang Liu and Paul Gallagher happening at The Old Hairdressers in Glasgow on the 26th of March from 5 - 9PM, with music at 8PM.

Common themes running through the exhibition are intent investigations of specific materials, forms, colours and processes, as well as a strong sense of movement. The artists all study Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art and the work includes printmaking, painting, video, textiles, sculpture and an aquarium. The different, highly individual lines of enquiry through similar concerns allow the artists to support and illuminate one another's work. This results in a varied exhibition that is cohesive with the sense that making has been approached in a playful and imaginative spirit, leading to poetic and arresting works of art.

There will also be music performed by Paul, Matthew and Sarah McWhinney from their as-yet-unnamed band. The music is instrumental and based on repetitive patterns that grow and develop. Highly rhythmic and with tensions between repeated and improvised elements, melodic sections and disharmony, many of the songs create a feeling of immersion within a journey or process for both the musician and listener."
